What volunteering looks like

Hands-on, welcoming, and meaningful

On pantry days, volunteers help us prepare the space, welcome neighbors, organize food and essentials, support neighbors as they shop, restock items, and clean up after service.

You do not need special experience to volunteer. You only need a willingness to serve with kindness, flexibility, and respect for every neighbor who walks through our doors.

On a pantry day, volunteers:

  • Set up and prepare the space
  • Welcome neighbors at the door
  • Organize food and essential items
  • Support neighbors as they shop
  • Restock tables throughout service
  • Clean up after the pantry closes

Hear from one of our volunteers

For so long I was looking for the right way to give back in my community. When I found Good Neighbors it seemed like a great way to do just that. However, my experience over the months has been so much more than I had hoped for. Every month I get to greet thankful faces, while working alongside wonderful people (who have become good friends), and leave feeling I made an impact for hundreds of people who face food insecurity. I am repeatedly humbled by the generosity and kindness of the volunteers at Good Neighbors and I cannot recommend this organization more highly.

We ask volunteers to sign up in advance whenever possible so we can plan well and make sure the pantry runs smoothly. If you arrive without signing up, we'll do our best to welcome you and find a way for you to help.
